Viviam Caroline

Viviam Caroline will teach Bloco Afro Drumming on our annual trip to Salvador, Bahia from August 5 - 21, 2023. Viviam has been a leader in the renowned all women’s Bloco-Afro Banda Dida for 27 years. She is one of the world's most sought-after authorities on Samba Reggae and the essential role Dida and the drum play in empowering women. Viviam Caroline created a band called YaYa Maximais. YaYa Maximais is a Band of Women that do Samba Reggae converging for rhythmic intersections that mark our existence in the world.

Viviam’s Programming

Viviam Caroline taught community class during Viver Brasil’s Samba in the Streets class takeover in June 2023 as well as lead the outdoor programming on June 10th and 25th.

In addition to her contribution to Samba in the Streets and teaching community class in June, Viviam performed in “Rezas e Folhas,” Vera Passos’ most recent work.
