ABOUT DAISY
Yakekerê Daisy Santos graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Museum Studies with a specialization in Art and Cultural Heritage from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and also holds a Master’s Degree in Ethnic and African Studies from UFBA.
Currently, Santos is a visiting scholar at Parsons School of Design /The New School (NYC), conducting doctoral research for her Ph.D. in Anthropology from UFBA. Her work explores Candomblé ceremonial clothing and its influences on contemporary fashion in the African diaspora and worldwide.
She was initiated into the Afro-Brazilian spiritual tradition of Candomblé at Terreiro Iiê Asé Ojisé Olodumare/Casa do Mensageiro. She received the title of Yakekerê/ Small Mother from Babalorixa Rychelmy Imbiriba.
