Brasil Brasil Cultural Center with Viver Brasil Presents “Samba Poetry” a fundraiser for Casa de Cultura SoMovimento on Saturday, December 3, 3pm-8pm
In March 2020, visionary artist and co-artistic director of Viver Brasil founded Casa de Cultura SoMovimento in Salvador, Bahia as the world experienced the initial effects of COVID-19. Co-Founder Nei Sacramento serves as CCSM’S musical director.
Vera has a large and beautiful vision that powerfully embraces her hopes and dreams to give voice to her Bahian community’s legacy and life stories. Over the past two years, CCSM has become one of the most important hubs for African diasporic art making and more specifically a center for Afro-Brazilian performing arts providing programming for national and international artists of all ages!
Vera’s vision is grand for CCSM! CSM needs your financial support to continue its creative programming as well as to make necessary structural improvements so that CCSM is accessible to all!
Vera is thrilled to invite you to participate in Samba Poetry, a fundraiser for Casa de Cultura SoMovimento on December 3 at 3 pm. With your financial support, your generosity will allow Vera to offer a myriad of programming for the youth of her beloved Bahia, opportunities for both professional and non-professional dancers and musicians and provide a much needed performance space for ALL.
Samba Poetry will include three dance workshops, performances, and a dance party. Workshops include Samba de Caboclo with Vera; Samba Reggae with Rachel Hernandez and Samba Fusion with Marina Magalhães. Following these amazing workshops, Viver Brasil members and BBCC artists will perform a tribute to the ORIXAS with live music! After the performance, DJ Muneca will spin her brand of dance music for your dancing pleasure.
Tickets: $55.00 through November 30
After November 30, tickets are $65.
